Physical Description

The husk zombie appears as a gaunt, hairless humanoid with ashen grey skin and sunken glowing eyes. Husk zombies do not speak, uttering nothing more than the occasional soft raspy moan. Husk zombies are created when a wizard drains a victim of all health with the Life Drain spell.  The resulting husk zombie has the same health that it had in life. Because of this, every husk zombie is unique and varies a bit with regards to size, shape, strength, height, weight, health points and combat abilities. The statistics above represent a husk zombie created from an average human victim.

Husk zombies are magical creatures and can be detected by an arcane sense spell.

Husk zombies leave a faint trail of ash footprints wherever they go. These faint footprints are usually difficult to see, but a good tracker could identify a husk zombie by them and perhaps even track them.

Combat

Husk zombies obey the commands of the wizard that created them. For the most part, they are mindless creatures that do not use tactics. They will simply run towards a target and pummel the enemy with their fists. They get four fist attacks each round.

The eyes of the husk zombie are able to see the life energy of their foes and this strange vision works regardless of intervening matter. Because of this, they can see other creatures through heavy rain, darkness, fog and even through walls. They can also see invisible creatures and fight them with no penalties.

The tough, scorched hairless hide of the husk zombie acts as a kind of natural armor and provides some modest protection against weapons. It is also highly resistant to fire, cold and lightning.

If a husk zombie is “killed”, it will collapse into a pile of grey ash.

Geographic Distribution and Habitat

Because they are created by wizards and serve their creators, husk zombies could potentially be encountered almost anywhere. However, because the Life Drain spell is viewed as an evil act, husk zombies are almost never encountered in civilized cities.

Ecology

Husk zombies do not eat, sleep, breathe, excrete or procreate. They are not natural creatures and do not interact with the environment.
